10 March 2014, Lagos – The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC has emerged champion of the 15th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games concluded at the weekend in Lagos.
The oil giants garnered a total of 14 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals to top 11 other companies that took part in the games. The second spot was won by SPDC which had 11 gold, seven silver and 10 bronze medals. With eight gold, five silver and six bronze medals Chevron took the third position. ExxonMobil placed fourth with three gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze while Total, NAOC, NLNG and PTI placed 5th, 6th and 7th respectively.
Debutantes, NCDMB were good enough for the 9th position while OANDO, DPR and Addax Oil took the rear. The closing ceremony witnessed the finals of the men and women 4 x 100 metres relay and the final of the football event..NNPC took the gold medal after defeating Chevron 2 – 0 in the exciting final.
The victorious NNPC team dominated the male and female tennis events which they garnered a haul of eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals.
Chevron dominated the swimming event with five gold two silver and two bronze medals. The closing ceremony held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere.
