04 May 2017, Sweetcrude, Houston, Texas — A 3000 megawatts gas fired plant to be built by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and its Joint Venture partners will be completed by 2019.
The Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, said this in an interview at the formal opening of the Nigerian exhibition stand at the ongoing Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, United States of America.
The 2019 deadline of the 3000mw plant will be for the first batch.
Baru who was represented by the Corporation’s Chief Operating Officer, COO), Gas and Power, Engr. Saidu Mohammed said the plant is to be built in Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano.
Mohammed said that by the time the three plants are completed, NNPC will generate about 4, 000 MW of power, which will significantly boost power supply in the country.
