06 March 2013, Cairo – Firemen controlled a large fire which broke out on Thursday morning at the valves room of the Assuit/Sohag pipeline in Egypt.
The fire occurred when thieves stormed the room in an attempt to steal petroleum products.
An emergency plan was applied to control the situation, Chairman of Oil Pipelines Company Eng. Mohamed Fathi said.
“The authorities concerned were notified to take the necessary action,” he said, adding that the pipeline is now ready for operation.
The fire left no casualties.
