10 April 2014, Lagos – There seems to be no end in sight to the worsening electricity supply situation in the country as industry operators, who gathered at the Seventh Lagos Economic Summit, tagged, Ehingbeti 2014 in Lagos, Wednesday, declared that the situation cannot be addressed in the near term
due to challenges around power generation, infrastructure, revenue collection, appropriate pricing and gas supply, among others.
This is coming as the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has cautioned that any attempt to increase electricity tariffs will be seen as criminal and will be resisted until the myriads of problems afflicting the sector are resolved.
The power industry operators, who spoke separately at Ehingbeti 2014 said they were faced with a lot of challenges in their quest towards ensuring stable power and advised Nigerians to exercise patience, saying that fixing the decay in the power sector will not happen overnight.
