Lagos — The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has commenced moves to renew the Lagos Channel Management contract as the current contract with the Lagos Channel Management Company Limited expired in June last year.
Although bids have been opened, a winner is however yet to be announced indicating that the agency is still carrying out exercise evaluation of the bids.
Recall that NPA with its technical partner, Lagos Channel Management Company Limited have been managing the channels in last 15 years.
An official of the company who spoke to Vanguard Maritime Report on the condition of anonymity said that the company has assisted the NPA to make its marine services to its customers to become almost like a seamless operation in the port.
Speaking on the development, General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communication department of the NPA, Engr. Jatto Adams said that the renewal was being handled by the Procurement department since it has to go through procurement.
Adams also said that he was of the fact that bids have been submitted and opened adding that they were currently being evaluated after which a winner will be announced.
