24 October 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos — THE Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA has issued new guidelines for dredging, underwater pipeline laying and drilling with a view to promoting transparency and efficiency in the business environment.
It was gathered that a Processing fee of N300,000 payable to NPA will be demanded from applicants just as another N300,000 annual fee will also be paid as Renewal fee.
According to the document obtained by SweetcrudeReports, the permit is valid for only one year and for the pipeline laying, a survey plan or bathymetric chart of the proposed location of pipelines route, coordinates, width and length and end points must also accompany the application.
For the issuance of permit for survey and re-survey, NPA said that the description of the proposed area to be surveyed including coordinates, the name of location and proximity to surrounding land and channel navigation would be required.
For the processing and renewal fees, an N100,000 fee, as well as dates and duration of the proposed activity, must also be attached to such applications.
For dredging and sand filling, a bathymetric chart for the proposed area to be dredged, depth to be achieved during dredging and exact volume and type of material to be dredged are also to accompany the application.
The agency also put a timeline of six weeks to the application and issuance of any of these permits adding that all such application must be addressed to the Managing Director of the agency.
