Lagos — In a move to foster operational collaboration aimed at boosting exports, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, yesterday hosted the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited, Dr. Phillip Mshelbila, at the NPA Headquarters in Marina, Lagos.
During the visit, Dr. Mshelbila expressed NLNG’s appreciation for the NPA’s continuous support and emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration as NLNG expands its production capacity to meet rising global demand for liquefied natural gas.
In response, Dr. Dantsoho reaffirmed the NPA’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s export-driven agenda.
He stated: “Guided by the mandate of the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for the NPA to promote the Federal Government’s increased export orientation, we assure you of our unwavering support. Nigeria LNG has been instrumental in Nigeria’s economic development and export growth since its inception, and we are committed to deepening this partnership.”
The NPA’s efforts have been pivotal in achieving Nigeria’s trade surplus of ₦5.81 trillion (approximately $3.7 billion USD) in the third quarter of 2024, as highlighted in the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) foreign trade alert. This achievement was largely driven by exports facilitated through NPA’s platforms.
