Lagos — The Nigerian Shippers’ Council, NSC, has inaugurated the disciplinary committee for its senior and junior staff association.

Speaking while inaugurating the committee, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the council, Barr. Pius Akutah, said the inauguration of the committee was in line with civil service rules and that the council placed discipline at the forefront in its operational activities.

While calling on the members of the Disciplinary Committee to embrace fair play in the discharge of their duties, he also urged them to ensure proper investigation of issues that are brought before them on staff members of the council.

The Director, Human Resources Management Department, Mrs. Ada Okam harped on the importance of discipline in work place.

Mr. Emeka Okereke, who represented the Director of Legal Services Department of the Council, Mr.Bala Saleh, expressed the Committee’s readiness to work assiduously towards promoting discipline in the Council.

Also at a town hall meeting held with staff members to commemorate Barr. Akutah’s one year of assumption of office, the NSC boss called on the agency’s personnel to imbibe the culture of hardwork and dedication in their assigned duties.

He appreciated staff for their unremitting support and encouragement in the past one year, adding that more is expected from them in the years ahead.

He also expressed optimism that the Nigerian Shipping and Port Economic Regulatory Agency Bill 2023 would soon be passed, noting that they have had a Public Hearing on the passage.

“I know we are getting ready when would be transmuted to Nigerian Shipping and Port Economic Regulatory Agency. Any moment from now, this would become a reality,” he added.

According to him, the issue of staff welfare would be given priority attention, but the paucity of funds have remained the major challenge.
