10 November 2014, Port Harcourt – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, said it has recovered a wooden Boat loaded with Crude-Oil in an operation at Patrick Waterside, Rivers State.
NSCDC spokesman, Emmanuel Okeh said on Friday that the operation was in collaboration with the 146 Battalion of the Nigeria Army, River State.
He explained that the combined team carried out the operation after receiving an intelligence report on the activities of vandals at the creek.
Okeh said on sighting the security operatives, the vandals jumped into the river, thereby abandoning the boat and the stolen product.
Similarly, he said the Anti-vandal team of Abia State Command of NSCDC arrested six men at Isiala Ngwa while mounting valves on pipelines with the intention to vandalise and siphone Petroleum Products.
The Corps’ spokesman said the suspects will be charged to court of competent jurisdiction for the purpose of prosecution after investigations.
