06 January 2014, Lagos – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has cautioned marketers to desist from hoarding petroleum products to avoid the wrath of the law.
Commandant General (CG) of the Corps, Dr. Ade Abolurin gave the warning in a statement yesterday signed by the spokesperson of the Corps Okey Emmanuel.
The government is concerned with the welfare of the people and delivering the dividends of democracy to all and sundry and would not fold hands and allow unscrupulous people to make life meaningless and difficult for Nigerians, said the statement.
Abolurin said hoarding of the product has adverse effects on the economy and promotes black marketers, thereby leading to illegal stock piling of the products which sometimes causes fire outbreaks.
The CG has directed personnel of the Corps nationwide to be on red alert and ensure that any fuel station discovered to be hoarding petroleum products or increasing pump price other than the official price should be reported for appropriate action to be taken.
