Port Harcourt — French oil giant, Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited, TEPNG JV, has been charged to build and develop farmers in Egi, Ogba/Egbema/NdoniEgi, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, to ensure food sufficiency after COVID-19 pandemic.
King of Egiland, H.R.M. Prof. Anele Nwokoma, gave the charge while receiving medical consumables from the management of Total, recently.
Nwokoma who described farming as a more lucrative business, also pledged the support of the people of Egi to TOTAL’s operations in the area.
The monarch prayed that TOTAL should prosper in hundred folds after the COVID-19 pandemic, as the progress of Egiland was dependent on the progress of the oil firm.
“Another request that I will want to make, as soon as we return back to work, I want Total to use their Port Harcourt District office, through its business development and enterprise initiatives to build and develop farmers in Egi.
“If we can farm, we can produce for ourselves. There are lucrative businesses, but farming is even more lucrative than other businesses.
“I appreciate you Total, even though I have said ‘give me’, if there is anything you think I can do for you to better your operations, also ask me and I will reciprocate.”
Responding, the Executive Director of TOTAL, PHC District, Mr. Victor Bandele, said as a responsive and responsible company, the demands of the monarch have been noted and will be relayed to management.
“As a responsive organisation, we have been here for a long time and we will continue to be here. Thank you for always supporting us.”
