27 August 2015, News Wires – 27 August 2015, News Wires – Austrian state player OMV has appointed a new head of upstream as its current boss leaves the company ahead of schedule.
Johann Pleininger, currently senior vice president central Eastern Europe & Black Sea, will take up the post of upstream executive from 1 September, the company said on Thursday.
The 53-year-old OMV veteran will step into the shoes of Jaap Huijskes, who is leaving the post earlier that the previously expected date of the first half next year.
OMV did not explain why Huijskes was leaving early, but stressed that he “leaves on the best of terms”.
The company had said last September that Huijskes’ decision to leave was “based solely on private reasons”. His original tenure was due to run until September 2018.
New upstream director Pleininger joined OMV’s exploration and production team in 1977. From 1998 to 2001 he worked as head of investment and deputy head of controlling at OMV Austria E&P.
He then moved to project and investment manager at the wing for four years before becoming director of offshoot OMV Petrom, business & organisation until 2007.
From then until 2013 he served as E&P board member at OMV Petrom, until taking the position he is now vacating.
