Port Harcourt — The Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe, OPDS, Rear Admiral Noel Madugu, has called for stronger collaboration between the military and private pipeline surveillance firms like Tantita Security Surveillance Nigeria Ltd, TSSNL, to combat crude oil theft and achieve Nigeria’s oil production target of 3million barrels per day.
During a visit to Tantita’s operational headquarters in Ugborikoko, Delta State, Rear Adm. Madugu emphasized the need for synergy among security stakeholders, urging the company to sustain its community engagement efforts and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“We cannot secure Nigeria’s critical oil infrastructure alone. Stronger partnerships with private security firms like Tantita are crucial to safeguarding our national assets and boosting oil production,” he stated.
The OPDS Commander was accompanied by senior officers, including Navy Capt. Ikenna Okoloagu, Commanding Officer of Forward Operating Base, FOB, Escravos.
Welcoming the delegation, the Managing Director of TSSNL, High Chief Kestin Pondi, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to working closely with the JTF to tackle crude oil theft in the Niger Delta.
Pondi called for sustained cooperation between Tantita and security forces, stressing that only a united front could effectively curb the menace of crude oil theft.
“Tantita has made significant sacrifices to protect Nigeria’s oil assets. Our collaboration with security agencies has not only reduced oil theft but has also led to remarkable environmental improvements in affected communities,” Pondi noted.
