Rio De Janeiro — OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais is looking forward to working with Brazil’s Energy Minister Alexandre Silveira in the “coming years,” he said during opening remarks at Brazil’s ROG.e oil and gas event on Monday.

The remarks come after Silveira said late last year that he hoped Brazil would join the OPEC+ group after a full technical analysis, although the country would not take part in the group’s coordinated output caps.
“We at OPEC greatly value our growing cooperation with Brazil,” said Al Ghais, who will present OPEC’s annual World Oil Outlook at the event on Tuesday.
