14 August 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos – OPEC Secretary General, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo, has visited Nigeria’s ailing President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
A statement from OPEC said the visit at the residence of the Nigerian High Commissioner, also known as Abuja House, saw the two men review current oil market conditions and the implementation of the OPEC-non-OPEC ‘Declaration of Cooperation’.
The Secretary General, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerin Ntional Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, noted that “President Buhari has made a remarkable recovery. He was in pretty good shape, full of humour,” the statement said
President Buhari expressed his satisfaction with the steady progress being made by all participating countries in the ‘Declaration of Cooperation’, and urged them to remain focused and resolute.
Buhari was a former Minister of Petroleum for Nigeria and during that tenure represented Nigeria in OPEC for several years.
