Port Harcourt — The Petroleum Product Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, has warned that another round of fuel scarcity may soon re-surface in the country.
Recall that Nigeria is just recovering from fuel scarcity, which lasted for almost three months, after the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited, imported an off-spec PMS into the country.
Speaking, Rivers State Chairman of PETROAN, Mr. Francis Dimkpa, hinted that fuel scarcity was currently being experienced in Abuja, which may soon affect the supply of fuel to Rivers State and other parts of the country.
Dimkpa called on the Federal Government to do all it can to sustain the supply of petrol in the country, explaining that Nigerians were unprepared for another round of fuel scarcity in the country.
“The situation of supply challenge to Abuja is becoming a thing of concern to PETROAN.
“The reason is that we just came out of fuel scarcity that almost truncated our businesses, (the supply of off-spec fuel) and right now we are seeing again that this thing (fuel scarcity) is raising its ugly head in the FCT.
“In Rivers State here, we are deeply concerned because if it continues like this, it will now begin to affect the supply of fuel to Rivers state and other states and will make it difficult for sufficient distribution to take place, and that means we will begin to experience challenges in fuel supply again.
“Were appealing to the federal government to do whatsoever it can to sustain the supply of petrol in the country, as Nigerians are not prepared to go into another round of fuel scarcity in the country,” PETROAN said.
