    fuel tankers fire in Lagos

12 October 2014, Ibadan – Over 15 lives were lost and scores of houses, shops and vehicles badly burnt yesterday night in Ibadan when a truck conveying premium motor spirit (PMS) otherwise known as petrol lost control and spilled its contents on the road around 9.30pm under the popular Molete bridge.
    .
An eye-witness told THISDAY that the tanker was coming from the Challenge end of the Lagos/Ibadan expressway and heading towards Beere area of the city. The vehicle was said to have caught fire after its driver allegedly lost control.

Several vehicles, houses and many shops were said to have been badly affected, with another source claiming that the lives lost could not be evaluated yet as the raging effects of the fire has spread to more homes as at the time of filing this report.

Another source within Molete said the casualty figure of 15 people was still conservative, compared to more discoveries of lifeless bodies of un-identified people in the area. Men of the Oyo state fire service were still battling hard to put the inferno under control as at 11.25 pm when this report was filed.
