    Port Harcourt escapes petrol tanker fire explosion

    Port Harcourt — Tragedy was on Friday averted in Port Harcourt metropolis, following the fall of a petroleum tanker laden with 33,000 litres of fuel at Education Bus-stop, Mile one Diobu axis of Ikwerre Road.

    SweetCrudeReports gathered that the truck lost balance while trying to make a U-turn on the road, thereby crossing two dual carriage lane and landing on the ground on its side while spilling its content.

    This led the truck to overturned and spilled some of its content, while commuters scampered to scoop the spilled product from the ground, as motorists hurried to move away from the incident scene to avoid fire explosion.

    Eye witnesses say it took the urgent intervention of operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corp, State Fire Service and the Mile One police station to take control of the incident.

    One of the eye witness, identified as Nnamdi, said the truck driver was trying to make a U-turn before the driver lost control of the gear.

    He added that the incident occurred between 4:30 and 5:00pm, but for the help of relevant agencies on ground, who averted the disaster that could have occurred.
