*To convene a three-parties meeting on the controversy soon
27 March 2015, Abuja – There are indications that the federal government may soon take a final decision on the ‘ring-fencing’ agreement it reached with Geometric Aba Power Plant for distribution of electricity generated from the plant to Aba metropolis, but which it disregarded with its sale of the distribution network covering the Aba metropolis to a third party without recourse to the terms earlier reached in the agreement.
The government’s action through the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), had left the agreement with Geometric in controversy and since ensured that the independent power plant cannot distribute electricity generated from it to Aba metropolis in line with the ring-fencing agreement.
According to Geometric Aba Power, President Goodluck Jonathan had in his recent visit to the power plant, indicated his willingness to take a final decision on the controversy surrounding the agreement.
