11 November 2013, Birnin Kebbi – Kebbi State and the neighbouring Niger republic will witness perpetual power outage for three days from Sunday 10th November to Tuesday 13th November, 2013 following repair work at the collapsed 330 kv tower lines in Maiyama Local Government of Kebbi State.
This was disclosed to Monday by PHCN Business Manager in charge of Birnin Kebbi, Engr. Lawal Kangiwa in telephone conversation.
Kangiwa said that the disruption of power for 3 days was to enable PHCN engineers transfer cables back to the newly installed towers which were destroyed by heavy rain sometime in June this year in Maiyama Local Government.
“The state will witness power failure for 3 days beginning from this Sunday to Tuesday to enable our engineers transfer cables to the new high tension towers in Maiyama, if can recall we have operating on temporary towers since the incident occurred “, he said.
The Manager appealed to people especially their customers to cooperate with PHCN over the matter and regretted any difficulty people will face as a result of the power outage.
It will be recalled that four 330 KV tower lines were destroyed by heavy down pour sometime in June at Maiyama causing power outage in the state and Niger for over a week but was however restored back following the erection of 4 temporary towers by Nigerien and Nigerian engineers.
The 330 KV tower lines serves as a major power supply route in the North West and to neighbouring Niger Republic.
