06 December 2018, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt — House of Representatives candidate for Okrika/Ogu-Bolo Federal Constituency in Rivers State under the Green Party of Nigeria, GPN, Grace Fredson, has vowed to tackle the issue of illegal oil refining through the establishment of artisanal refineries in the state.
Fredson speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt said environmental pollution in her constituency as well as the state in general, will be checked.
She blamed the current level of insecurity in her constituency on idleness and joblessness among the youths and promised to sponsor a bill that will make the constituency an industrial hub.
The House of Representatives candidate maintained that youths of the constituency will be made to produce goods and services to others.
“My ambition is to replicate what is happening at Aba and Onitsha in Okrika/Ogu-Bolo Federal Constituency. People of the constituency will be made to engage in productive activities with a view to improving their economic well-being.
“The only way to check cultism and other forms of deviant behavior among the youths is to engage them in production.”
She also assured that her office will institute programmes for the aged, orphans and other vulnerable people in the constituency, while students from the area will be supported to achieve their educational dreams.
