03 March 2014, Port Harcourt – All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, has lamented the rise in oil theft which is fast depleting the nation’s resources.
In a statement issued yesterday, media aide of the interim Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Eze Eze, said the alleged refusal of the Federal Government to allow two aircraft the Rivers State Government acquired to effectively combat the menace in the country was also largely responsible for the rise in the crime.
Chief Eze said the alleged action of the Federal Government posed a big question mark on the determination of the government to combat corruption and oil theft
“It beats our imagination that the purchase of the helicopters which had the blessing of the Federal Government at the outset, should be sabotaged after the Rivers State Government had committed a whopping N30 billion to the project and is being made to pay demurrage annually. The refusal of the Federal Government to approve the release of these machines into the country that would have benefitted the entire Nigerians is a demonstration of how not to play politics with the life of the people,“ the party said.
