26 November 2014, Lagos – Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc has emerged winner of the ‘Mid-cap Company of the Year’ awards, leading other contenders like Detnorske, Noble Energy and Soco International Plc, owing to its market capitalisation status.
The announcement was made at the Oil Council World Assembly, which is the global meeting place for oil and gas companies looking to identify new merger and acquisition targets, raise capital and meet new joint venture partners and OFS providers.
Every year, the World Assembly welcomes over 1,000 oil and gas companies, financiers and investors, who are looking to invest billions of dollars in the sector.
Seplat, in a statement on Wednesday, said it was adjudged winner by a team of 60 industry experts from across the energy, finance and investment worlds.
Receiving the award, the Chairman of the company, Dr. A.B.C. Orjiako, was quoted to have said he was dedicating the awards to “the leadership team, the board and staff, who have worked very hard to take the company to its current height.
“The company is very fortunate to have very competent and committed management team that is steering the company on the path of growth.”
He also added that the implementation of the Seplat model of community engagement and Corporate Social Investment had helped the firm to maintain the strong partnership with its host communities.
