23 December 2014, Lagos – Seven Energy International Limited, an indigenous Nigerian oil and gas development, production and gas distribution company has reaffirmed its commitment to support the developmental aspirations of its host communities in order to foster mutually beneficial relationships.
As a demonstration of this commitment, Seven Energy has renovated and handed over to the community six classroom blocks and exercise books at Ubodung Community Secondary School, Urue-Offong/Oruko Local Government Area of AkwaIbom State.
Speaking during the handover, Vice President for Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment & Corporate Social Responsibility, Dr. Glenn Bestall, said that education is one of the best legacies any society can bequeath its children.
“In view of this Seven Energy decided to renovate the school to provide a conducive learning environment for the local community,” he said.
He praised the community for maintaining good relations with Seven Energy and pledged the Company’s continued support for their development initiatives.
“We thank this community for providing us with the necessary cooperation to continue to do our business here,” he said.
Also commenting on the project, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Seven Energy, NkoyoEtuk said that education is a very important part of Seven Energy’s corporate social responsibility investment.
“We will continue to work together with our host communities, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure the improvement of the living conditions of the communities located near our operations,” he added.
Speaking on his behalf of his community, the paramount ruler of Urue-Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, Offong ER Amazi commended Seven Energy for its support to the community.
“This school was built over thirty years ago and has been in a dilapidated state for many years. Although we made appeals to several quarters for assistance, only Seven Energy came to our aid. We thank Seven Energy for this gesture to our community.
This company has shown that it is a good neighbour and is desirous of our development through education. We will continue to partner with Seven Energy to ensure that its operations are sustained in our community for our mutual benefit,” he said
