21 August 2015, Sweetcrude, Lagos – The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, SPDC, has announced the lifting of force majeure on gas supplies to the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG, from the Eastern Gas Gathering System, EGGS-1.
According to the company, the lifting of the force majeure is effective August 21, 2015, and follows repair of a sabotage leak on the line supplying gas to NLNG. The force majeure was declared on August 4, 2015.
The Joint Investigation Team which visited the site found that the leak was caused by a crude theft connection, apparently installed by people who thought the line was transporting crude oil.
