11 April 2014, News Wires – Norwegian explorer seeks to tap structure north-east of Grane field
Statoil has secured approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration well at the so-called D structure in the Norwegian North Sea using Diamond Offshore semi-submersible Ocean Vanguard.
Well 25/8-18 S will be drilled about 12 kilometres north-east of the Grane field in a water depth of 129 metres.
Statoil operates the central North Sea licence PL 169 on a 57% stake with Norway’s Petoro on 30% and ExxonMobil on 13%.
In February the same rig came up dry with the Tastaveden prospect 35 kilometres north-east of Grane in PL628 that had been hoped to yielded a satellite discovery.
