25 August 2015, News Wires – Statoil has kicked off drilling of a wildcat at a satellite prospect near its Oseberg field in the Norwegian North Sea.
The state-owned operator is using semi-submersible Songa Delta to drill the 30/9-27S probe in its operated production licence 104, about nine kilometres south-west of the Oseberg South platform.
It is the 28th exploration well to be drilled in the licence, operated by Statoil on 49.3% with partners Petoro (33.6%), Total (14.7%) and ConocoPhillips (2.4%).
Statoil has earlier filed an application with the authorities to drill the 30/9-28S probe nearby targeting the B-Vest and Angkor Thom prospects in PL079 and PL104 using the same rig, with an earliest spud date of October.
