17 October 2012, KHARTOUM – SUDAN plans to boost oil production to 150,000 barrels per day, bpd, early next year, its Energy Minister, Awad Ahmed , has said.

Jazz told Reuters that the country is planning to add 30,000 bpd to its currrent daily 120,000 barrels output.

“We have our blocks and we are working hard to raise production,” he told the news wire.

The country is aiming to boost production to 300,000 bpd in two years.

The country has been gradually raising production following the split with South Sudan in July last year.

Sudan’s production has suffered immensely since South Sudan gained independence in July last year, taking with it some three quarters of the enlarge territory’s reserves.
