He said by 2019, Nigeria expects to become a net exporter of refined products, adding that an investment drive is ongoing to meet the infrastructure requirement.
He added that the move is also a part of the industry’s low cost strategies to deliver quality services, adding that “without the PETAN seal of quality and competence the industry cannot move forward.”
Kachikwu had come under a lot of criticism last month when he said the ongoing fuel scarcity would end in May. Under pressure, he quickly announced April 27 as the feasible date for a return to normalcy in the downstream sector. That date was not to be, leading to calls from some quarters for his resignation, but Kachikwu stuck to his guns.
