Port Harcourt — President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, on his 60th birthday, commending his transformative leadership in Nigeria’s energy sector while charging him to drive reforms and boost investor confidence.

In a statement signed by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Ojulari as an “accomplished energy professional” whose career has consistently delivered impact and vision in the oil and gas industry.

“You have your work clearly defined before you. As head of NNPC Limited, your mission is to win investor confidence and ensure that NNPC becomes a key driver of Nigeria’s economic growth.”

Ojulari, who took over as NNPC’s helmsman in April 2025, previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Renaissance Africa Energy Company, RAEC, and as Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company, SNEPCo, from 2015 to 2021.

The President noted with satisfaction recent gains under Ojulari’s leadership, including an increase in daily oil production from 1.5 million to 1.7 million barrels per day, with a renewed push toward achieving 1.9 million barrels per day by the end of the year.

“On your birthday, my message to you is simple: continue to serve God and country with dedication and integrity, knowing that your efforts will bring renewed hope to Nigerians and strengthen our energy industry,” Tinubu said.

He added, “I pray God to grant you strength, wisdom, and success as you lead NNPC Limited to greater heights.”
