17 May 2013, Lagos – The final of the Total Managing Director football Cup comes up tomorrow (Saturday) at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
Disclosing this, the Employee Relations Manager of the oil firm, Mr. Debo Atunwa, said that a walk race from Victoria Island to Onikan stadium will precede the final match, which would be graced by a yet to be identified former Super Eagles player and coach.
Speaking at the Legacy Pitch at the National Stadium, Surulere, Atunwa said the competition which is held once in two years, was meant to promote sporting competition amongst the staff of the oil company.
“The objective of the competition is to create an avenue for staff to come out and have a work-life balance. We want the staff who are doing the work to enjoy themselves through sports.
This competition helps to keep our staff healthy and on the long run they will be more profitable. It’s a work-life balance scheme programme initiated by the company to bring all our staff together to bond and at the end of the day, it increases their fitness level while their productivity also rises”.
He said that deserving teams of the competition will receive trophies and certificates of participation.
Meanwhile, two matches were played on Thursday at the Legacy Pitch, which saw Head Office defeating Eastern Zone 2-1 while Western Zone pipped Northern Zone 1-0.
The matches continue this (Friday) morning.
