Lagos — French oil company, Total has finally kick-started work on the $500 million Ikike oil field development in the Oil Mining Lease, OML 99, in shallow water southeastern Nigeria, holding its first steel-cutting ceremony.
The job has been awarded to Energy Works Technology, EWT- to deliver four major pressure vessels.
The first steel cut ceremony marked the commencement of engineering, procurement, and fabrication of an Open Drain Vessel, Closed Drain Vessel, Pig Launcher and a Pig Receiver.
Once completed, the field, estimated to hold 70 million barrels of crude oil, will add 32,000 barrels to Nigeria’s daily output.
