30 April 2014, News Wires – Tullow Oil has kicked off drilling of a wildcat at the Gotama prospect in the mature North Sea province off Norway.
The 31/2-21S well, which is being drilled by semi-submersible Borgland Dolphin in Tullow-operated production licence 550, is targeting a pre-drill resource estimate of about 141 million barrels in the Upper Jurassic Draupne formation in a water depth of 348 metres.
The probe will be drilled to a total vertical depth of 3200 metres and has an estimated duration of 98 days in the event of a discovery.
The UK explorer holds an 80% operating stake in the licence with partners Det Norske Oljeselskap and VNG on 10% each.
