Kaduna — The Kaduna State Police Command has arraigned two brothers, Mohammed Mahmud and Mubarak Mahmud, of No. 6, Dan Damisa Road, Unguwar Shanu, Kaduna before the Chief Magistrate Court 26, Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Kaduna for attacking and assaulting a staff member of Kaduna Electric on lawful duty.
The Officer in Charge of Legal matters of the Kaduna State Police Command, Superintendent of Police (Barrister) Martins Leonard Danjuma, who stood in for the Commissioner of Police, stated in the First Information Report, FIR, presented to the Court that the accused persons were charged with the offences of “criminal conspiracy, use of criminal force, assault, theft and deliberately causing harm in order to deter public servant from lawful duty contrary to sections 59, 238, 240, 271 and 272(2) of the Kaduna State Penal Code 2017”.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of Two hundred thousand naira each with two sureties who shall have landed properties within the Court’s jurisdiction and must deposit their international passports with the Court registry.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Her Worship, Hon. Gwan Ucha ordered that the accused persons be remanded in correctional custody pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions and adjourned the case to September 6, 2021 for further hearing.
It would recalled that the two brothers last week attacked, without any provocation, a staff of Kaduna Electric, Aliyu Abdullahi which resulted in the hospitalisation of the said staff.
