04 February 2014, Warri – The crises in Ugborodo community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has taken a fresh twist, as an assembly of Ugborodo indigenes has sacked the two groups that have been locked in superiority tussle over the leadership of the Ugborodo Governing Board, an arm of the Ugborodo Trust since 2010.
The assembly warned that on no account should any individual, group or institution for now, or the immediate future, issue any statement in any representative capacity for and on behalf of the community.
It said that the traditional leadership structure of Ugborodo, as encapsulated in the offices of Olaja-Orori, Eghare-Aja and the Registered Trustee, have henceforth been given full mandate to handle all issues affecting the Ugborodo community, including issues relating to the siting of the EPZ in Ugborodo.
The assembly called on governments, agencies, companies and the general public to henceforth discountenance any correspondence, publication and meeting that is not entered into and signed by the trio of the Olaja Orori, Dube Omadeli, Eghare Wellington Ojogor and the Registered Trustee of the Community Trust, Pa Eworitse Tsebi.
In addition, the assembly thanked the Federal Government and President Goodluck Jonathan for choosing Ugborodo community for the siting of the proposed EPZ, and assured him of the community’s cooperation, but pleaded with the President to prevail on the state functionaries to desist from further fomenting intra-community crises, including meddling into the affairs of Ugborodo, even to the ridiculous point of appointing persons into the proposed committee that will represent Ugborodo community in interfacing with the authorities of the proposed EPZ authorities.
On the proposed community committee to represent Ugborodo over the siting of the EPZ, the assembly directed the towns which make up Ugborodo community to send in their representatives to the new leadership structure in consonance with the proportionate distribution of representatives, warning the two sacked groups, and the state government to stop forthwith any action in relation to the proposed committee.
