21 June 2013, News Wires – The number of rigs drilling in the US this week fell by 12 to total 1759, according to Houston-based services giant Baker Hughes.
Oil-directed rigs were down by eight for a total of 1405. The gas-directed rig count fell by four to total 349.
Oklahoma was the big loser this week, shedding five rigs for a total of 178. Kansas was up one rig on 28.
Louisiana also took a hit, losing three rigs for 106. Mississippi was flat on 11. Arkansas was flat on 14.
Texas lost a total of three rigs for 843. The Eagle Ford lost three rigs to total 299. The Permian basin lost one for 398.
New Mexico was off one for 75. Colorado was flat on 62. Wyoming was flat on 46. Utah was flat on 34.
North Dakota was flat on 178. Montana was flat on 10. Pennsylvania was flat on 54. West Virginia was flat on 22. Ohio lost two rigs for 30.
California lost one rig for 37. Alaska was up two rigs on eight.
