03 September 2014, News Wires – The Venezuelan government has appointed the cousin of former president Hugo Chavez as its new oil and mining minister.
The BBC reported that Asdrubal Chavez had replaced Rafael Ramirez in the job as part of a wider cabinet shuffle.
It was also reported that Ramirez would step down as the head of state-run oil company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) and be replaced by current vice president and geophysical engineer Eulogio del Pino.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has now appointed Ramirez as the country’s new Foreign Minister.
