18 January 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The technology group Wärtsilä expands its co-operation with the Argentinian energy company Pampa Energia S.A. Under the recently signed operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement, Wärtsilä takes responsibility for the operation of Pampa Energia’s Smart Power Generation plant Central Termica Ingeniero White, located in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. During the ten-year contract period, Wärtsilä ensures the optimal performance of the multi-fuel plant by means of continuously monitoring and addressing plant operation and maintenance needs. The operation and maintenance agreement was signed in October 2017.
The scope of the new O&M ensures optimal plant availability and reliability levels, extended equipment lifecycle, as well as reduced operational costs in a safe, reliable, and environmentally sound way.
Wärtsilä provides performance guarantees related to power plant availability as well as to fuel and lube oil consumption, thus supporting the competitiveness and business targets of Pampa Energia S.A.
These targets are supported by Wärtsilä’s remote monitoring services, which provide real-time performance data on the power plant’s equipment. Maintenance decisions are supported by sophisticated data analytics. The efficient operation of Pampa Energia’s power plant involves skilled and trained personnel on site to ensure the planned operational profile of the power plant. Spare parts and a comprehensive variety of maintenance services, including maintenance planning, preventive and predictive maintenance, and risk management are also included in the O&M agreement.
“We needed an experienced lifecycle services provider to operate the Ingeniero White power plant efficiently and reliably. Wärtsilä is already in charge of the operation and maintenance of Pampa Energia’s Central Termica Pilar power plant, and we see them as the best partner to ensure the optimal performance of the Central Termica Ingeniero White power plant as well. Wärtsilä has the best expertise in multi-fuel installations,” says Mr Luis Ruiz, Engineering Chief, Pampa Energia S.A.
“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Pampa Energia and take on the operational responsibility for Central Termica Ingeniero White. Wärtsilä’s integrated solution for the operation and maintenance of the highly efficient multi-fuel power plant will ensure its optimal performance throughout its lifecycle. We guarantee that the installation will reach the set performance targets, with Wärtsilä taking on the operational risks and allowing Pampa Energia to focus on its core business,” says Ville Packalen, Director, Services Unit Latin America, Wärtsilä Services.
The Ingeniero White plant is operational since December 22, 2017. The plant will provide an output of 101 MW, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 120,000 households. The new power plant supports the growing energy demand in Argentina.
Pampa Energia S.A. is a fully integrated power company operating in Argentina. The company engages in power generation and transmission and distribution of electricity. Pampa Energia S.A. also participates in oil and gas exploration, production activities, and the refining and distribution of hydrocarbons.
