26 March 2014, Abuja – The Federal Government on Tuesday followed up its decision to set aside $1 billion for the implementation of a comprehensive programme to curb crude oil theft, vandalism of oil and gas infrastructure as well as apprehension and prosecution of crude oil thieves with the restructuring of its inter-ministerial committee on gas-to-power.
The reconstituted committee according to the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, was drawn from the ministries of power, petroleum resources, finance and Presidential Taskforce on Power (PTFP).
The task team is to be presided over by the Chairman of the PTFP, Beks Dagogo-Jack and was apparently reinvigorated in the wake of recent dip in nationwide power supply as a result of inadequate supply of gas feedstock to a number of thermal generation plants in the country.
