27 August 2013, Ughelli – Urhobo youths have appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to prevail on the Governing Council of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, FUPRE, Delta State, to appoint an Urhobo person as Vice Chancellor of the institution.
The youths, operating under the aegis of Coalition of Urhobo Youth Organisation, CUYO, also applauded the recent meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU.
Spokesman of the group, Mr. Stephen Ohwokirerhuo, noted in Ughelli, Delta State, that the President-General of UPU, Gen. Patrick Aziza (rtd), mobilised Urhobo nation to give massive support to the President in 2011 general election.
He said: “We use this medium to call on Mr. President to prevail on the Governing Council of FUPRE, under the chairmanship of Senator Bari-gha Amange, to appoint an indigene of Urhobo nation as Vice Chancellor of the university.”
