Adebiyi recalled that the electricity distribution companies (Discos) were yet to honour the agreements they signed with the Federal Government in November 2013 to issue prepaid metres to all Nigeria consumers within 18 months, as failure to do so has in recent times led to over-billing of customers, making them pay for darkness.

The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) will provide $1.4 billion in the form of equity and debt for gas and solar power programmes. These would be in addition to the $2.5 billion loan the country is seeking from the World Bank to help improve the distribution of power, expand transmission-capacity as well as increase access to electricity in rural areas. These bring the sector international facility quest to a total of $5.2 billion.

He noted that efficient customer service and complaints resolution would not only win the confidence of the customers for their service provider but also allow customers to benefit from the gain of the privatisation of the power sector.

The System Operator further noted that on Monday, it attained a peak generation of 3778.90Mw, low generation of 3,305.80Mw, adding that its highest frequency was 51.28 Hz while lowest frequency was 48.83Hz.
