Mkpoikana Udoma 29 october 2015, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – The hospitality industries in Port Harcourt under the aegis of Restaurant and Bar Operators Association of Rivers State have registered their displeasure over the epileptic power supply in the state by the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC.
The operators, in a statement by its President, Mrs Eunice Fente, said the poor electricity supply in the state has affected their business adversely as they could not satisfy their customers effectively.
They said the situation was discouraging customers from patronising them as they are experiencing poor patronage due to poor power supply.
According to the statement, “those of us without functional generators are worse hit. We can not freeze our markets, thereby affecting the gain we could make for the day. We also purchase fuel to run our plants daily.”
The statement further noted that the situation, if not checked, could send some of their members back to the labour market, saying this development and its negative impact call for urgent attention.
