Lagos — The Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has reaffirmed his pledge on the plan to provide 24-hour electricity to Nigerians.

He made this known during his speech at the first Annual Socio-Economic Summit organised by Jericho Business Club in Ibadan at the weekend.

Mr Adelabu recognised the efforts made by the past administrations to solve the challenges in the power sector but noted that measures and policies taken by those administrations were ineffective.

“The agenda to provide 24-hour electricity for Nigerians is still on course and intact. Our people have suffered so much in terms of energy poverty,” he said.

The Minister stated the current administration’s commitment to achieve its mandate of a steady and effective electricity supply in the country.

While admitting  the numerous challenges faced by the power sector, He further highlighted that the power-generating sector has its own problems, coupled with those of the distribution companies and consumers.

He stated the government’s proactive approach in identifying these challenges and devising sustainable solutions

“What we have done is to identify these challenges and map out strategies for enduring and workable solutions,” the minister explained.
