    JTF bursts kidnappers den, rescue 2 victims in Bayelsa

    Mkpoikana Udoma 19 May 2017, Sweeetcrude, Yenegoa –  The Joint Task Force operating in the Niger Delta region, Operation Delta Safe, says it has conducted successful raid operations on identified camps of sea pirates and kidnappers at Oluwasiri and Agbidama creeks in Brass and Ekeremor Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State.

    The commander of OPDS, Rear Admiral Apochi Sulaiman, while briefing newsmen in Yenegoa, said two kidnapped victims were rescued during the raid.
    Suleiman explains that items recovered from the kidnappers include 15 rifles, 112 pieces ammunition of different sizes among other items.
    He stated that the Joint Task Force is resolved to ensure peaceful socio-economic environment for business to thrive in the region.
    According to him,  “During the operations in Oluwasiri particularly, the troops rescued two kidnapped victims.
    “One of the victims sustained gunshot injury during the crossfire. He is currently receiving medical attention in one of our facility in Port Harcourt.
    “Items recovered during the raids include, one HK 21E Rifle, One Rocket Propelled Gun launcher, four AK47 rifles, three pistols, 61 pieces of 12.7/108mm ammo, five empty rifles magazine, one empty pistol magazines, 36 pieces of 7.62mm ammo, 15 pieces of 9mm ammunition among others items,” the commander said.
