Mkpoikana Udoma 13 December 2016, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, has provided medical assistance to over 694 customers at its Power Clinic.
The management of PHEDC launched the Power Clinic in August this year to conduct free medical checks on customers in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers States.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Jay McCoskey, said 694 people have so far benefited from the medical initiative, adding that the Power Clinic was one of the Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, initiatives the company has embarked on in contributing positively to its environment.
According to him, “As a responsive company, the health of our customers is very paramount to us and that is why we partner with Hygeia in providing free medical checks to our numerous customers out there.
“It is a way of identifying with our customers over the years for remaining faithful with us through payment of their electricity bills.
“The free medical checks afford customers the opportunity of having their blood pressure, sugar level , eyes tested, among others, in the four states of our coverage”, he said.
The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, it would be recalled, also as part of its CSR, donated school bags, pencils, crayons to school children in its four states of coverage, during this year’s Children’s Day celebration on May 27.
