Bowleven gets more time off Cameroon

The government of Cameroon has granted Edinburgh-based Bowleven a one year extension on its offshore Etinde production sharing contract.

Bowleven said planning for continuing exploration and appraisal activities next year was already underway for the permit which covers offshore Blocks MLHP-5, MLHP- 6 and MLHP-7.

“The Etinde PSC extension allows us to maintain momentum in pursuing our dual strategy of targeting high impact exploration in Cameroon whilst also focusing on converting resources to reserves,” chief executive Kevin Hart.

The extension follows recent success on the permit with its Sapele-1 oil discovery. Last month a test on the Sapele-1ST sidetrack was carried out over the Deep Omicron interval and flowed 2023 barrels per day of oil and almost 6.5 million cubic feet of gas per day.

Bowleven added that mechanical issues had been encountered during the testing of the Sapele-2 well which is being drilled to appraise both the Lower and Deep Omicron discoveries.

However, it said the issues had now been resolved and results from testing activities were expected in about two weeks.
