26 November 2011, Sweetcrude, Doha – The 20th World Petroleum Congress organizing committee said today that it has closed online delegate registrations effective immediately.

The organisers said the online delegate registrations have exceeded expectations, with 5000 delegates already having confirmed their registrations.

The State of Qatar is hosting the first World Petroleum Congress and Exhibition to be held in the Middle East region at the Qatar National Convention Centre from 4-8 December 2011.

In addition to a diverse and highly populated congress programme that welcomes the largest delegate count in WPC history and a broad cross section of industry leaders under one roof, the 20th WPC in Doha also has the honour of hosting the biggest ever World Petroleum Exhibition, which surpasses the previous edition in Madrid, Spain, by 20%.

A 20th WPC Organising Committee spokesperson said: “This record number of registrations is extremely rewarding. It is just one aspect of the 20th WPC coming to fruition following nearly two years of planning, campaigning, registration and logistics. We expect the 20th WPC to leave a lasting memory that contributes to elevating Qatar’s and the region’s overall credentials as a reliable and efficient host.”

Delegate registration is still possible in Doha at the Qatar National Convention Centre from 3 December and during the days of the Congress. Trade visitor registrations and Media registration will continue to be open online leading up to the congress and exhibition, as well as during the Congress days.
