21 December 2011, Sweetcrude, YAOUNDE – London-listed Victoria Oil & Gas has announced a start to commercial gas production at its Logbaba development in Cameroon.
The company says the field will generate more than 44 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd) by the end of 2014, Victoria said in an announcement to the London Securities Exchange
It added that the field is expected to generate up to 8mmcfd by the end of 2012 as initial thermal customers for the project are brought on stream .
But with two wells on the site completed as producers and gross proved and probable reserves of 212 billion cubic feet of gas and 4.2 million barrels of condensate on the site, the company is confident of the prediction.
The news came as Victoria subsidiary Rodeo Development made its first delivery of gas to the Magzi Industrial Estate on 17 December – a move which Victoria said made it the first onshore gas and condensate producer in Cameroon.
Victoria had developed the Logbaba field as a fast track project, it said, having installed and commissioned production facilities and a gas pipeline network in Douala – Cameroon’s largest city – prior to the delivery.
The entire 34 kilometre pipeline network, with an operating capacity of 60mmcfd and serving four main industrial hubs, would be completed by mid-2012, Victoria said.
