03 February 2012, Sweetcrude, ACCRA – Norway’s Aker Solutions has won a contract to provide well intervention services for Tullow Ghana’s Jubilee and Tano deepwater fields.
Aker says the contract will fetch it revenues of about $4 million.
Aker has been working with Tullow on Jubilee field since 2008, and will provide slickline and coiled tubing equipment and services under the deal.
The company said the contract will last for an initial period of three years, though it also has two additional one-year options, .
Wolfgang Puennel, head of Aker’s well intervention solutions, said the deal would give the company a solid long-term outlook for their operations.
“We will utilise this to set up a more permanent presence in Ghana, which will also drive the need for a larger local workforce. This will put us in a better position to secure further oil service work in the country,” he said.
