18 April 2012, Sweetcrude, ABUJA – In order to arrest the crisis in the Nigerian oil sector and threats of strike by workers, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Ministry of Labour and Productivity are planning an expanded stakeholders meeting to address the issues involved in the crisis.
The move is one of the agreements at the meeting between the government and leaders of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASAN) held in Abuja to persuade the union to shelve its planned three-days nationwide strike.
A communique from the talks said the meeting also agreed on a need to set up a Technical Committee to work out details of the proposed stakeholders meeting.
The committee is expected to come out with modalities for the Stakeholders’ Forum within two weeks from the date of the resolution, while the forum would be held within two months.
